Biogas feedstock potentials and related water footprints from residues in China and the European Union

China encounters heavy air pollution caused by coal consumption. and the EU aim to decrease greenhouse gas emissions. Shifting biogas from residues contributes solving both problems. This study assesses China's potentials related water footprints (WFs) compares results with WFs for EU. Starting a literature review on potentials, it analyzes information resulting in calculation methodology, its validation application China. Finally, estimates makes comparative assessment of In EU, agricultural, forestry other might contribute 8% (5300 PJ) primary energy consumption, 10% (13,275 PJ.) agriculture 41%, 26%, 23%, manure 10%.
